Margaret Narconis

Margaret Muir (nee O’Neill) Narconis, 73, died on April 27, 2024 at Mari De Villa Nursing Home in Town and Country, MO. 

Meg was born February 22, 1951 in Alton, the daughter of the late Dr. Paul J. O’Neill and Elizabeth “Peg” (Smith) O’Neill. Meg was a 1969 graduate of Alton High School and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Loyola University in Chicago in 1973, and an MBA from Webster University. She worked as a Risk Manager for the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. 

On January 30, 1982, Meg married the love of her life, Roman “Ray” Narconis in Alton. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2017. 

She is survived by a son, Alex Narconis (Michelle) and a daughter, Dana Murray (Chris), all of Ballwin, MO, seven grandchildren, Evelyn Narconis, Lucille Narconis, Henry Narconis, Jack Murray, Alison Murray, James Murray, and Noah Murray and her faithful dog, Bailey. Also surviving is a sister, Gail Scyoc of Alton, and brothers, P.J. O’Neill of Glen Carbon, and Barney O’Neill of Winter Haven, FL.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John H. O’Neill and a sister, Patricia O’Neill. 

There will be a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
