The Alton City Council meeting for July 10th commenced with the roll call, confirming six members present and one absent. The Pledge of Allegiance followed.

Bids were opened for properties at 922 East 6th Street, 1107 West 9th Street, and 930 Tremont Street. The council moved to have these bids reviewed by Greg for further action.

During the public address segment, Gary Andrews praised the city's first responders and Mayor Goins' efforts in improving Alton. Darlene Croft highlighted the success of the basketball academy summer program, while Mike Batchelor and Libby Ruder raised concerns about the Marina project and flood wall plans, respectively.

The council approved the minutes from the June 26 meeting and several officer reports. Resolutions were passed concerning the temporary street closure for the Miles from Meso run, demolition proceedings for 1914 Belle Street, and asbestos removal for multiple properties. Additionally, bids for street maintenance and other projects were awarded.

New ordinances were introduced for no parking signs and honorary street signs, while an ordinance honoring Viola Jackson received its second reading and approval.

Under other business, the council discussed the progress of Frontier's mining operations and the potential need for specialized legal assistance. The meeting concluded with acknowledgments of community contributions and condolences for the passing of former Auditor and County Board Member Rick Fassin.
