I got into my line of work because I love stories.

When I was a kid I read a lot of comic books and mythologies, and they were great for the imagination. Now that they tell me I'm a grown-up...I tell very different stories but with the same kind of open mind: news-related, public interest, local business, humanitarian stories...Instead of larger-than-life characters and sensationalized tales, let's talk about everyday folks just doing some good here and there...

This month's RBGA After Hours newtowrking event had an island-style theme at the Wood River Aquatic Center.
We stopped in at the Jacoby Arts Center to see the Beverly Farms "I'm An Artist" exhibit this weekend. Talented artists from Beverly Farm were kind enough to showcase close to 50 of their best works, and we sure loved the show!
The Riverbender.com Community Center is hosting a big Back-to-School bash to ring in the new school year! We've got a bounce-house, face painting, mani's and peti's, we're screening Disney's Frozen, and of course there are all the great games we've got in the center all-year-round! Come on out and hav...
If you're looking for something fun (and FREE) to do this summer, check out Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis! We packed up, took a Riverbender intern and some of their classmates, and had them put together this piece about the great attractions Laumeier has to offer.
Sara McGibany and Downtown Alton put on another great year for the Big Gig concert. The rain sure caused a problem or two, but they kept the show going!
The March of Dimes put together another great event this year for the Bikers for Babies Rally! With the help of several local sponsors, including the Hawg Pit, hundreds of bikers came out to show their support for the quest to reduce premature birth rates.
We had to see what all the buzz was about so we met up with Sara McGibany at the Alton Farmer's and Artisan's Market and boy were we impressed! There were all kinds of home-grown and home-made products at the ready. It's the perfect spot for a fun Saturday morning or a cool Wednesday night. Sara's go...
While the Discovery Day Camps are in full swing, the Nature Institute put the FUN back in fundraiser last Saturday with their Change for Change event. Campers from the 5th and 6th grade Day Camp put together a carnival for everyone to enjoy while raising funds for five area charities. How great is i...
Freer Auto Body once again hosted their Christmas in July event to benefit the less fortunate. Parterning with the United Way, the luncheon raises money to buy Christmas presents for the community each December.
The folks at Alton Little theater are geared up for their upcoming show, "9 to 5," which opens July 24th. We thought you might like a little preview of the magic before you come out for the show!
