Zane Lee Prosser, 88, of Bethalto, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
He was born on June 22, 1938, in East Alton, IL, the son of Vernon Ray and Ida Mae (Porter) Prosser. Zane married Shirley Janiece Patton in Cottage Hills, on October 5, 1958. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2018.
After graduating from high school, Zane began working at McDonnell Douglas, where he held several positions including Tool Grinder, Machinist and Journeyman. He was a member of East Alton Assembly of God. He was a musician his entire life and loved playing Blue Grass music. Zane enjoyed hunting, wood carving, playing golf, and spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his three sons, Steve (Kay) Prosser of Bethalto, Daniel (Ellen) Prosser of Colrain, MA, and Michael (Pam) Prosser of Granite City; a brother, Dave Prosser of Olive Branch, IL; grandson, Zach (Heather) Prosser; and three great-grandchildren, Zoe Prosser, Jonathan Prosser, and Asher Prosser.
Along with his parents, and wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Parker; and a brother, Edward Prosser.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:30 am, at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery. Pastor Tim Keller will officiate.
