In Loving Memory of Zane Dudley
Zane Dudley, 75, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side.
Born on May 9, 1951 in Staunton, IL, Zane was the son of the late Eugene & Ellen (Harris) Dudley. On September 28, 1974, he married the love of his life, Ida Mae Eller, in Staunton, IL. Together they built a loving home & shared over 51 years of marriage filled with faith, family, & cherished memories.
Zane was a hard-working man who took great pride in providing for his family. He worked in construction for approximately 10 years before beginning a 31 year career with Monterey Coal Company in Carlinville, IL.
When he wasn’t working, Zane found joy in the simple things. He loved hunting, fishing, & spending countless hours in his shed building & repairing projects. He had a special place in his heart for his cats, especially Sami, Mitzi, & Rudy, & enjoyed their companionship. More than anything, he loved being surrounded by his family. Whether sharing stories, celebrating holidays, or simply spending time together, those moments meant the world to him.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife - Ida Mae Dudley of Staunton, IL; his sons - Corey Dudley of Auburn, IL, & Justin Dudley (Chastity Honchak) of Staunton, IL; his grandchildren - Olivia Cummings (Michael Huber) & Autumn (Devin) Kindernay; & his great grandchildren - Kendra, Paisley, Callum, Rowan, & Elaina. He is also survived by his sister - Marcia (Charles) Miller; sisters-in-law - Barb (Don) Coalson & Linda Pike; brother-in-law - Harold (Susan) Eller; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, & many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Eugene & Ellen Dudley; his infant brother - Charles Eugene Dudley; his grandparents - Henry & Ethel (Jones) Dudley & Charles & Mattie (Brown) Harris; & his mother-in-law & father-in-law - Wilbert & Ida (Ficarro) Eller.
Honoring Zane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to either the Assembly of God Church in Staunton, IL, or to Adopt-A-Pet of Benld, IL.
