William Guy “Billy” Peipert, 57, of Alton, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Jan 18, 2024. He was born in Alton on May 13, 1966, to William L. Peipert and Roberta Whyers. 

Billy graduated from Marquette High School in 1984, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. His professional life included many years operating heavy equipment, including delivering fuel tankers from the Port of Tampa, FL, and working with excavators, dump trucks, and tractors in the construction field. 

Billy affirmed his spiritual relationship with God, and after his children, considered his sobriety his greatest accomplishment. He was a proud member of AA and his sobriety date of Nov. 16, 2009. 

He married Amy Gross in Dodge City, KS, on Aug. 17, 1994. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Peipert, and his parents. His is survived by three children: Diana Karin Soliwon of East Alton, IL; Daniel (Rachel) Peipert of South Carolina; and Amber Peipert of Texas; and three grandchildren: Kamilah Peipert, Branson Peipert, and Delaney Peipert.

Also surviving are two brothers, Eric (Jane) Peipert of Virginia; Robert (Ruth Ellen) Peipert of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; Catherine McFarlane of Godfrey, IL; Annie (Wes) Scheufler of Sarasota, FL; and Jeannie Holderman of Sarasota, FL. The family extends a special thank you to Tod Smith of Alton, IL, for his lifelong friendship. 

There will be a private burial with immediate family, and a gathering scheduled at a later date. Burial contributions can be made through Marks Mortuary in Wood River, IL.
