Virgil Tepen

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Virgil M. Tepen, who peacefully left our world on October 4, 2025. Born on July 27, 1932, Virgil lived a fulfilled and meaningful life filled with love, service, and devotion to his faith and family.

Surviving him is his dedicated wife, Margie (Wieneke) Tepen, whom he married on November 21, 1959, and their cherished children, Eric Tepen, Kevin (Lori) Tepen and Lynnette Macauley. Also mourning his loss are his beloved grandchildren, Brett Tepen, Janie (Robby) Miles, Lily (Luke) Shively, Kelsey (Drew) Hagen, Margy (Mitch) Goetten, Francine (Jacob) Brady, and Samantha and Shane Macauley.  He had five great grandchildren with two more on the way.  Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Leroy Wieneke.

He now joins in eternal rest his predeceased family members: his parents, John and Mary (Hillen) Tepen; his siblings Addelle Droege, Bernard Tepen, Cletus Tepen, August Tepen, and Doris Carnes.

After serving in the Army, Virgil committed to a rewarding career at the Bank of Kampsville until he retired in 1999.

Virgil was a devout attendee of St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

As a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Virgil loved watching their games, and despite the frequent criticism he had to offer, he always hoped they would bring home a win.

Virgil will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to have known him. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his fulfilling life, marked by kindness, dedication, and love. As we bid him farewell, we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the love he left behind.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels.

Funeral mass will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Brussels.
