Verna May Watts Cannon Dillon 92, of Rosewood Heights passed away peacefully Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 1, 1926 in Jerseyville to Jessie and Minnie (Sturdevant) Watts. She was the youngest of 18 children. She was a graduate of East Alton Wood River High School. Verna married Robert L. Dillon October 23, 1976 in East Alton. She worked as a secretary at Olin until her retirement in 1985. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She lived to serve and help others. She loved her flower beds, tending to them until her last summer.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert L. Dillon of Rosewood Heights; six children, son, John Cannon III (Norine Marcel), daughter, Susan (John) Eyers, son, Andrew (Linda) Cannon, daughter, Melanie (Harry) Mundy, daughter, Jane (Mark) Short and step son, Devin Dillon; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 17 siblings.

 Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon, Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Dream Home Charities. Online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com.
