Vera Juenger

Vera Juenger, nee Fix, 107, of Smithton, IL, born December 31, 1917, in Belleville, IL, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her residence, just days shy of her 108th birthday.

Mrs. Juenger was a lifelong farmer and an extremely hard worker. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Belleville Anglers Club, Southside Improvement Association, Belleville-Swansea Moose Lodge, and St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL. Cracking pecans was one of Vera’s favorite pastimes and she was quite good at picking pecan halves from the shells and could do it for hours on end. She adored her family and friends and loved a good party and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Albert George Juenger, whom she married August 30, 1952, and who died May 12, 2016; her parents, John Paul and Josephine, nee Hoh, Fix; and eight brothers and sisters, Johnny (Rose) Fix, Richard (Edna) Fix, Helen (Albert) Englerth, Raymond “Butch” (Mildred) Fix, Elmer (Mary) Fix, Lawrence (Margie) Fix, Aurelia “Babe” (Wally) Agne, and Irvin (Bernie) Fix.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great-nieces, and great-great-great nephews, and was loved by all.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL. An American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary ritual will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Craig Bielke officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
