Truman Cloninger

Truman F. Cloninger, 90, of Alton, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on May 3, 1934 in Glen Allen, MO, the son of Floyd E. and Florence M. (Sitze) Cloninger. Truman married Betty S. Dailey in Marble Hills, MO, on February 16, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2020.

Truman worked at Laclede Steel for 42 years before his retirement. He was a former member of Beltline Chrisitan Center and a current member of Bethalto Church of God. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, David (Patricia Ann) Cloninger of Robertsville, MO, Danny (Laura) Cloninger of Alton, and Vanessa (Tim) Lonergan of Springfield, IL; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife Betty and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Oren J. Cloninger, Mildred G. Underwood, Vurel Cloninger, Grace M. Marr and an infant brother Milford Cloninger; and a son, Barry C. Cloninger.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 9:30 am until time of service at 12 pm, at Bethalto Church of God. Pastor Jacob Skelton will officiate. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is entrusted with arrangements.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to Bethalto Church of God.
