Timothy Guiney

Timothy Edward Guiney, age 67, of East Alton, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at his residence.  He was born September 8, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Andrew and Lucille June (Cintel) Guiney.  In 1995, he married Barbara Johnson (Rives/Mitts) of Roxana in Piedmont, MO.  She survives.  Mr. Guiney was retired from Heat & Frost Insulators, Local 1, of St. Louis, MO.  He was known to his fellow Heat and Frost brothers as "the Gurnz".  He was a member of the Alton Eagles #254.  In previous years, he was a member of the Salty Dawg's Motorcycle Club and the Dreamweaver's Motorcycle Club.

Since retirement, he had enjoyed many travels across the states by motorcycle and motor home.  He loved spending time with his family, friends and his five grandchildren; and he was looking forward to his 6th grandchild in December.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two step-children and their spouses:  Wade and Kobe Rives of Edwardsville and Tammy and Daniel Meneses of Alton; Five grandchildren:  Collin, Carter and Kiera Rives, and Victoria and Autumn Meneses; One sister, Mary (husband Lee) Farris of Imperial, MO; a brother, John (wife Kelly) Guiney of Manchester, MO; one brother-in-law, Danny Mitts of East Alton; one sister-in-law, Patricia (Pat) Guiney of Wood River; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and long-time friends.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved brother and sister, Dan Guiney and Nora Staszkiewicz; and his long-time four-legged best friend of 15 years, Spike, who now awaits his arrival at Rainbow Bridge, to be together again. 

A memorial gathering and celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  A memorial service will begin at  7:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
