Thomas Allen Vahle, 71 of Alton, passed away at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at La Bella of Alton with his family by his side.
Tom was born on November 22, 1952 in Granite City. He was the son of the late Ralph William and Teresa Ann (Schroeder) Vahle.
He enjoyed sports and had been the umpire for many soft ball games in East Alton and around the area. Tom was also an avid bowler.
Tom and the former Cheryl Brookshire were married for several years when she passed away.
He was a US Army Veteran. Tom worked as a Security Guard for the Shell Oil Refinery in Roxana for 17 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle L. Vahle of East Alton; two sons, Charles and Patti Vahle of Baldwin, MI, William Vahle of East Alton; 9 grandchildren, Brandon Hennen, Thomas Westbrook, Brian Westbrook, Gage Westbrook, Zachary Vahle, Amanda Preston, Kelly Scraber, Dakota Spinner, Ashlie Vahle; 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Dick.
Services for Tom will be at a later date.
Tom will be sadly missed by family and friends.
