Teresa A. Mortland passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 2:55 P.M. at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, MO.
Teresa was born on March 16, 1959 in Champaign, IL to Robert and Ruth (Towner) Lazenby. She married Darrell Mortland on July 16, 1977 in Jerseyville.
She was a member of Indian Creek Church of Christ in Hamburg where she coordinated the annual holiday Angel Tree program and was instrumental in the Vacation Bible School each summer. Teresa was the Food Service Director at Calhoun Unit 40 for over 25 years. Teresa’s greatest love was spending time with family and friends. She spoiled everyone with love, food, and kindness and was happiest dancing and playing with her grandchildren. Her creative talents included sewing, crafting, and baking delicious treats, most often for others to enjoy.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Mortland; two sons, Michael (Lori) Mortland of Batchtown and Matthew (Emily) Mortland of Glen Carbon; one daughter, Mary Beth (Howard “Chip”) Johnson of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Pepper Ann, Oliver, Bodie, Cole, Kymble, and Walter; her parents, Bob and Ruth Lazenby of Jerseyville; one sister, Kim (Scott) Montgomery of Indiana; and her mother-in-law, Virginia Mortland.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Kenneth Mortland.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday April 27, 2018 at the Calhoun Unit 40 Elementary School. The family would like to invite all visitors to enjoy a meal in Teresa’s honor throughout the visitation as she loved serving others.
Visitation will continue Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 am April 28, 2018 at Indian Creek Church of Christ in Hamburg with Rick Burrow Officiating.
Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg
