Stephen Roth
Fieldon | Save
Stephen L. “Lefty” Roth, 74, of Fieldon IL, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday October 22, 2024, in his home.
He was born August 4, 1950, in East Hardin, IL to the late Leona (Calvey) and Joseph Roth.
He married his High School sweetheart Jerry Sue Clendenny, and they had three wonderful children together. Later in life he met his soul mate Karen and lived out a very happy life together until she passed away in March of 2024.
He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Roth of FL, two sons Timothy “Tug” (Jennifer) Roth of Kampsville, IL, and James “Jimmy” (Dena) Roth of Hardin, IL, his grandchildren Lindsey (Andy) Nelson, Ali(fiancé Trevor) Scranton, Zoey Roth, Grace Roth, Hunter Roth, and William Roth, his great grandchildren Millie Bratten, Charlotte Nelson, Wesley Nelson, Violet Knott and Whitney Nelson, his siblings Joe (Judy) Roth of Fieldon, IL, Kay Fisher of Roodhouse, IL, and Karlyon (John) Wankel of Kampsville, IL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen, his parents, a grandson Joseph Roth and a brother Gary Funk.
Lefty worked as a carpenter/millwright all his life. He was a hard worker and was skilled at many things. He retired from Carpenters Local 1529.
Lefty was an avid hunter with an emphasis on duck hunting. He was really looking forward to this season and was spending most of his time getting the blind together and very proud of his accomplishments. He worked very hard; we were so glad that he got to enjoy the Youth Hunt this year with his grandson William along with his two boys. If the weather was nice, you could always be assured that he was on a golf course somewhere. He had many golfing buddies, but his brother Joe was his partner. Cannot express enough how his face would light up when telling a golfing story of how they would show up and win it all.
Lefty will be sadly missed by all his friends and buddies, but he lives on forever in their hearts.
Dad, we will always love you and will miss you forever!
Cremation rights have been accorded, and as per his wishes, no formal services will be held. His family will be holding a Celebration of Life at the Michael Tavern November 9, 2024, at 2 p.m.
They welcome all who knew and loved him to come celebrate and share their memories of him with them.
