Stanley A. Shields, passed away at 2:40 am on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on January 17, 1957 in Kankakee, IL, the son of Stanley O. and Judith (Oldham) Shields.
He married Joni Fletcher on July 17, 2004 in Bunker Hill. She survives.
Stanley was a boilermaker and a carpenter. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, football, baseball, playing horseshoes, poker, country music, baking sweets for Christmas and barbequeing.
In addition to his wife and mother of Wood River, he is survived by his children, Danielle E. Shields of Murphysboro, TN, Krista Shields of Alton, Chad Meyers of Wood River and Carissa Meyers of Moro; seven grandchildren, Tori Styffe, Dakota Meyers, Katy Meyers, Marciana Johnson, Savanah Meyers, Kinzley Johnson and Payton Meyers; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anita Dutchik of Alton and Dawn and Sonny Sampson of Fillmore, IL; a brother and sister-in-law, Darryl W. and Rusty Shields of Fieldon; a sister-in-law, Jan Hammond of Godfrey; a brother-in-law, Eric Fletcher of Colorado; an aunt, Lana Oldham of Wood River; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Lester and Helen Oldham and Fred and Lola Shields.
Visitation will be from 1 until services at 3 pm Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto with Pastor Phil Schneider officiating.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
