HARDIN – Shirley Labelle Hartle, 80, died at 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born on September 6, 1934, one of four children born to the late Homer & Bessie Edna (Medaris) McCallister.
Shirley attended Pittsfield High School and later married Raymond Hartle on February 28, 1958 in Jacksonville and together they shared nearly 44 years together before his death on February 11, 2002. They moved to Hardin in 1993 and resided there until Raymond’s health began to decline, at which time they relocated to Jacksonville.
Shirley later retired in 2004 from Carol’s Cleaner’s in Jacksonville and came back to Hardin where she remained for the last 11 years.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy & Chris McCallister of Griggsville; Daniel & Lydia Hartle of Carrollton; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane & Larry Johnson of Roodhouse; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Nash of Quincy; and a brother, Sonny McCallister of Barry.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Trammel.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Family, in care of the funeral home.
