Sharon Keeton

Sharon Louise Keeton, 86 years old of Batchtown, IL was found deceased in her home on July 25, 2025. Sharon was born in Detroit, Michigan, the second child of Andrew and Lillian Keeton.

Following the end of World War II, the family returned to Missouri and settled in Foley. In July of 1953, the family moved to Batchtown, IL where they operated Keeton’s Store. In 1957, Sharon, Steve, and Sue all graduated from Calhoun High School in Hardin. Sharon then worked in St. Louis before attending Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for art and clothing design.

After graduating with a degree in Art History, she worked as an art instructor in the state hospitals in Anna and Dixon, Illinois. She moved to Pittsburg, PA to work as an art professor at Carnegie Mellon University. She then returned to Batchtown, IL after her father suffered a stroke to assist her mother.

She started her antique business and partnered with Steve’s Antiques, an antique and ironwork reproduction business in Alton, IL. In the 1980’s she moved her business to Old Town Spring and named the business after her grandfather, Otto Wendt and Co. Sharon again returned to Batchtown, IL to assist her mother after she broke her hip. She moved her antique business to Alton, IL which she continued to operate until the pandemic in 2020.  

Sharon was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Andrew and Lillian, her brothers, Steve and Denny Keeton, and sister, Sally Eichhorn (nee Keeton), niece Dawn Keeton. Sharon is survived by her brother, James Keeton (Rosie) of Medford, Oregon and Sue Pellegrino Wolf (nee Keeton) of Houston, Texas, sister-in-law Claudia Keeton along with her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

A memorial will be held for Sharon at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf funeral home in Hardin, IL on Friday September 26, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm. Sharon will be buried in Star Hope Cemetery, south of Elsberry, MO at a later date.
