Sarah Oliver

Sarah B. Oliver, 81, of Bethalto, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Jerseyville Community Hospital.

She was born in Reading, England, on July 8, 1944, the daughter of the late Elvis H. and Alexandra (Sherman) Oliver. At age 2, her family settled in Alton, where she graduated from Alton High.

Sarah worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company for several years in the Mold Shop until the plant closed. She went to work for Central Hardware and then K-Mart both in Alton, as a cashier until 2012. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church and of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed shopping, a good meal, and time with friends. She was a very generous person, always wanting to make sure you felt taken care of. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her brother, Kenneth Oliver of LeClaire, IA; two nephews, Pastor Nick (Jessica) Oliver of LeClaire, IA, and Justin (Ellayna) Oliver of Carlisle IA; six great-nephews; and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Adam Oliver and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Oliver.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Nick Oliver and Pastor John Sims officiating. Burial will be held privately.

Memorials are suggested to the Bethalto United Methodist Church.
