Rosetta "Rose" Miller, 80, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at her home in Alton.
She was born on December 27, 1943 in Hartford, IL the daughter of Pete and Nanny (Linder) Young.
Rose had worked as a cook at several Alton area restaurants. She had also worked at Elias-Smith Funeral Home as a funeral and visitation attendant. Rose was a member of VFW #1308. She enjoyed bowling. Rose loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Rose is survived by a son and his wife, Keith and Ellen Ward of Burelson, TX; a daughter, Kimberly Ward of Alton; two step-daughters, Wanda Young and Donna Mitchell; eight grandchildren, Justin Ward, Chase Ward, Blake Ward, Chastity Ward, Caleb Ward, Dawn Mitchell, Tara Young, and Stacy Young; ten great-grandchildren; her chosen daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Mower and her husband Terry; their five children and six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by four brothers, Dallas Young, Jesse Young, Claude Young, John Young; and a sister, Nancy Hampton.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, from 4:00 pm until the time of a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm in the chapel of the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
