Rose Mary Thomas, 81, passed away February 1, 2024 at Staunton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Fayette County, IL on May 25, 1942, she was the daughter of Ben, Sr. and Vera May (Jones) Berner.
She had worked in the food service department at Alton Sr. High School and later as a laborer for ServiceMaster.
In 1984 in Edwardsville, she married Grover Thomas. He preceded in death.
Surviving are a son, Brian Keith (Veronica) Weber of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Nathalie Rose, Ryan Alexander, Gabriela Alegria, Veronica Alyse, and Elizabeth Alejandra; four step-children, Joe Thomas in Florida, David Thomas of Bethalto; Lori Allison of Cottage Hills, Debbie Stillwell of Godfrey; nine step-grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Berner in Wisconsin, Donald Berner of Pana, David Berner of Oconee, IL; and three sisters, Marilyn Prosser of Pana, Carolyn Young of Mattoon, and Donna Berner of Taylorville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Ben Berner, Jr., Wilbur Berner; and two sisters, Margie Rhymer and Helen Kronsagen.
Visitation will be from 9 am until 10:30 am Saturday, February 10, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Private service and burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society.
