Roland D. Ford, Sr., 69, passed away at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at his daughter’s home under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born in Lincoln, Ill. on June 13, 1941.
An administrator for the Illinois Dept. of Mental Health, he retired in 1995 after 35 years of service.
He married Marian L. Handshy Sept. 15, 1960 in Mt. Vernon, Ill. She preceded him in death in July of 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Ronna Christine Lafferty and her husband Chris of East Alton and Amy Lee Ford and her companion Michael Capers of Cottage Hills; two sons, Roland Dale Ford, Jr. and his wife Trisha of Roxana and Toland Ford and his wife Leitha of Wood River; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, and Jacob Ford, Zachary Lafferty, and Nicholas and Ryan Ford; 2 step grandchildren; and two half brothers, Gary Anderson of Pekin, Ill. and Barry Anderson of New Holland, Ill.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.
Private inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., the American Heart Assoc., or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
