Robert William “Bob” Hill, 85, passed away at 12:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center in Hardin, Illinois.
He was born on November 14, 1938 in Grafton, Illinois, one of three children born to the late Randolph Burl and Josephine (Wright) Hill and graduated with the Class of 1956 from Jersey Community High School.
Bob was employed for many years as a Crane Operator with Laclede Steel, and worked tirelessly to provide the best possible life for his family.
He married the former Karen Sue Shanks on January 28, 1961 in Hardin, Illinois, and together their marriage was blessed with three children. Throughout their 63 years of marriage, they remained faithful to one another through both life’s joys and its sorrows, relying heavily on their faith in the Lord to see them through.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Hill of Jerseyville; a daughter, Rhonda DeSherlia of Jerseyville; a son and daughter in-law, Randolph “Rudy” and Maria Hill of Jerseyville; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Matthew Hill on February 7, 2023; a great granddaughter, Lana Lynn Hill; a son in-law, Charlie DeSherlia; a sister, Joanne Shook; a brother, Kenneth Hill; as well as his father in-law and mother in-law, Robert and Velma Shanks.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral Services at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
