Robert Byron Fowler, 76, of Caseyville, Illinois, passed away at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Born September 13, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, he was the son of the late Joseph and Golda (Casey) Fowler. He married the love of his life, Denise K. (Burchard) Fowler on August 21, 1976, in St. Louis, Missouri, and she survives.
He built a life defined not by where he started, but by what he made of it. Through his interests and determination, he created opportunities for his family beyond those he had himself. His presence shaped a home where a relationship with God could take root, offering a steadiness that allowed others to feel welcomed and at ease. He was known for his quick wit and a lifelong cleverness, traits fitting for the youngest of five children.
Robert was the proud owner and operator of Fowler Data Company in Collinsville for over two decades, retiring in 2005. A dedicated patriot, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime attendee of Navigation Church in Collinsville, IL, and a former member of the Granite City Elks Lodge. Robert had a lifelong passion for technology and enjoyed working on computers. In his free time, he found great joy in fishing, riding motorcycles, and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert “Jason” and Miriam Fowler of Fairview Heights, James M. and Johanna Fowler of O’Fallon, and Jerry B. and Sylvia Fowler of Collinsville; seven grandchildren, Michaela, Hannah, David, Noah, Annabelle, Emmaleigh, and Elijah; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Archie Ferguson of Mesa, Arizona; and a niece, Kathy Franklin of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Ronald Fowler, Anita “Darlene” Carnahan, and Gerald Fowler.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, with Reverend David Amsden officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
