Richard Metz

Richard Lee Metz, 71, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at LaBella Skilled Nursing Facility of Edwardsville. He was born June 5, 1952, in Granite City, a son of the late John O. and Anne M. (Mooshegian) Metz. Richard married Mary (Koelker) Heagy-Metz on November 23, 1984, and she survives. He was retired and had worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, DePaul Hospital and Eden Village. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. Rich enjoyed and will be remembered for the love and special times shard with his grandsons and family members. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Kate Metz; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Heagy; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Loretta and Tim Evans; two grandsons, Zackary Metz and Benjamin Metz; a sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and John Crowson; other extended family and many friends.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be in the gathering room at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jeff Goeckner as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. In lieu of floral tributes, please donate and support St. Boniface Catholic Church and or the St. Boniface Catholic Grade School.
