Phyllis R Pellegrino, 99, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Alfonso "Frank" and Catterina (Capra) Fucoloro.
Phyllis married Joseph Pellegrino on October 28, 1947 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on May 22, 1979.
Phyllis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. She was a member of the Altar Society and Young at Heart with St. Matthew's before moving to St. Mary's. Phyllis had worked as a clerk at Hood Co. for many years.
Phyllis is survived by four sons, Joseph (Renee) Pellegrino of Maryville, John (Kay) Pellegrino of SC, James (Tammy) Pellegrino of AZ, Charles (Karen) Pellegrino of MO; five daughters, Phyllis Shaver of AZ, Margaret Angelo of Alton, IL, Nannette (John) Wethington of Grafton, IL, Cynthia Shaffer of MO, Sara (Jay) Paige of MO; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Joseph; she is preceded in death by her parents; three sons-in-law, Gary Porter, Ron Shaver, and Mark Shaffer; and Cynthia's significant other, Monty Stanton
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will take place in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
Memorials are suggested to the Riverbend Humane Society.
