Patricia Martin

Patricia R. “Patsy” Martin, 85, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 12, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 18, 1941, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Charlie and Reatha McIlvoy.

Patsy married the love of her life, Eugene L. Martin, on June 18, 1965, in Madison, Illinois, and he survives. They shared 62 years of wonderful memories filled with love, devotion, and companionship.

She retired in 1999 from Granite City Steel after 35 years of dedicated service as a keyboard operator. Following her retirement, Patsy enjoyed working with August Gardens flower shop, where she was able to share her love of flowers and gardening.

Patsy was a longtime faithful member of Calvary Life Church, which held a special place in her heart. She was also a supporter of the March of Dimes and a true fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. She found great joy in tending to her flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Patsy will be remembered for her caring heart, gentle spirit, and the many special moments she shared with those she loved.

In addition to her beloved husband, Eugene, she is survived by her sons, Donald Martin and his girlfriend, Jeannie Metcalf, and Kevin Byars; stepdaughter, Diane “Bob” Yurosovich; grandchildren, Lindsay (Jeremy) Garner, Whitney Byars, and McKenzie Martin; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Haleigh, Austin, Penelope, and Rylee; sister-in-law, Glenda Cohel; nephew, William (Carol) Schreiber Sr.; great-nephews, William (Betsy) Schreiber Jr. and Lee (Christy) Schreiber; great-nieces, Ann Gamble, Chris Korn, and Karen (Tony) Stajduhar; great-nephew, Donnie Hennessey; great-great-nieces and nephews, Madyson, Drake, Katelyn, and Jakob; along with other extended family and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Clella Ligh (Alfred) Schreiber, Wayne (Velma) McIlvoy, Lester (Ella) McIlvoy, Wendell (Martha) McIlvoy, Jennings (Kathy) McIlvoy, Colleen (Tom) Hennessey, and William “Billy” McIlvoy.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 noon, with Reverend Mark Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
