O Fallon | Save
Patricia “Pat” Jean Daly (nee McCarron), 76, of O’Fallon, IL, born March 28, 1950, in East St. Louis, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at her home with loving family and friends at her side.
Pat began as a journalist chasing down stories for The Post-Dispatch and later as a reporter for The Daily News in California. Later, with her husband, she ran and operated a small business until they retired.
Pat was fun-loving and witty with an unmatched zest for life, whether boating with the girls or joining her sister and cousins on their annual vacations. Her family will always remember the unlimited laughs playing Taboo and Charades on family game nights; her friends appreciated her taste in mouthwatering desserts and appetizers, and Pat shared her mother’s love for researching the ‘best” bakery wherever they traveled.
Pat found her true passion when she was introduced to house rabbits. Pat, along with her future best friends, volunteered in the feeding and care of rescue bunnies.
Her dedication, vision, and expertise were instrumental in the fundraising for the present shelter located in Fenton, MO, where they assist with adoptions, education, and care for the many bunnies who reside there.
She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley McCarron; her mother, Alita McCarron, nee Lorenz; her sister, Maureen McCarron; and her stepdaughter, Eileen Dulaney.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William “Bill” Daly; sister Colleen (Mike) Schaab; brother Kevin (Carrie) McCarron; stepson Billy Daly; step-grandson Sean Daly. Pat was a devoted aunt and great-aunt to Megan (Christopher), Morgan, Stephen (Bethany), Cory (Kassandra), Christine, Logan, and Hannah; as well as her great-nieces and nephews: Sully, Colton, Sadie, Eleanor, and Colby.
Our sweet Pat leaves behind her beloved bunnies, Tab and Miss Fluffy, along with family and friends who will dearly miss her laugh, stories, and bright spirit every single day.
Pat’s wishes were cremation with a celebration of life for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Pat’s honor to the Missouri House Rabbit Society by visiting www.morabbit.org. Condolences may be made online at www.schildknechtfh.com.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home.
