Mickey Dean Blumenberg, age 77, of Kampsville, Illinois, passed away on February 23, 2026. He was born on March 26, 1948, in Hamburg, Illinois, to Albert and Alvina Blumenberg.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, GeraldBlumenberg; and his sisters, Sandra Howard, and Peggy Ash. He is survived by his siblings Joyce Blumenberg, Gustav Blumenberg, and Lindell Blumenberg.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Zella Blumenberg of Kampsville, and all eight of their children and their families: Michael Blumenberg of Peoria; Jerry Blumenberg of Kampsville; Jeff Blumenberg of Hamburg; Buck Blumenberg of Jerseyville; Elizabeth Rios and her husband, Will, of San Antonio, Texas; Lacey Cummings and her husband, Josh, of Universal City, Texas; Zak Blumenberg of Jerseyville; and Kristi Blumenberg of Universal City, Texas.
Mickey was a proud and loving grandfather to Cody Blumenberg, Jacob Blumenberg, Kara Hackethal, Chasity Blumenberg, Elyjah Rios, Samuel Rios, McKinley Rios, Emily Lavena Cummings, Alaina Michelle Cummings, and Mackenzie “Mae” Blumenberg. His grandchildren were truly the light of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
For more than 20 years, Mickey was known for peddling peaches in nearby communities, a job he took great pride in and one that brought him many lasting friendships. He loved the conversations, the laughter, and the relationships he built at the peach stand along the way. Through his work and his everyday interactions, he became a familiar and welcoming presence to many in the community.
He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Mickey will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and the joy he found in simple moments spent with those he loved. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin, Illinois, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
