Michael Dean Vandiver, 67, passed away suddenly on January 31, 2024, in his home. He was born on December 13, 1956, to Chester and Dollie Vandiver of Alton, who both preceded him in death. Along with his beloved brother, Chester Dale Vandiver.
Mike is survived by his children Maxwell Vandiver, and Raven (Eric) Eckert along with 3 grandchildren Kylynne, Phoenix, and Easton and a fourth grandson Malcom due this May.
Up until his retirement in 2022, Mike worked at William Bedell ARC in Wood River for just over 20 years. He was a hard-working man who loved what he did and touched the lives of many. When he wasn’t working, you could find him with a Busch in hand and listening to music, a favorite pastime of his. He loved all classic rock, but he was an avid Bob Dylan and The Beatles fan. Mike was an amazing dad, and his children and grandchildren were the love of his life. Mike was also a great friend and brother to many and will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Owl’s Club in Alton on February 18, 2024, starting at 12:00 noon. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
