Max Syfert

Max M. Syfert, 82, passed away at 3:32am on Monday, June 4, 2012, at Alton Memorial Hospital.  He was born on December 20, 1929, in Effingham, Illinois.  He married the former Darlene Fink on November 8, 1952 and she survives.  Other survivors include one daughter and son in law: Connie and Desmond Lynch of Oscoda, Michigan, one son and daughter in law: Kevin and Carol Syfert of Moro, four grandchildren: Brittany Lynch, Ian Lynch, Cory Schilling and his wife: Vickie, Zach Schilling and his wife: Christy, three great grandchildren: Hallie, Brady, and Claire Schilling, a nephew: Butch Syfert, a great nephew and his wife: Luke and Lauren Syfert, a great niece and her husband: Amanda and Peter Martin, a sister in law: Audrey Fink of Vandalia. 

He was the former vocal music teacher at Roxana High School for over 30 years prior to his retirement.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Chad Ingram, a brother: Donald, and a sister: Geneva Yandell.

In celebration of his life, private visitation and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Burial followed at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
