Mary Hazel Turner, 97, died at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Heritage Manor in Staunton. She was born October 27, 1914 in Dale, IL the daughter of the late Arthur Franklin and Ellie (Webb) Thompson. On October 1, 1934 in Alton she married John “Jack” Turner and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1988. She was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Alton. She is survived by one son; Cecil Turner and his wife Denise of Bunker Hill, IL and three grandchildren; Tabitha Golike (Jim) of Alton, Kim Turner (Pam) of Grafton, and Carey Eveans of Alton, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren and one sister; Norma Fay Mayberry of Broughton, IL. She was preceded in death by one grandson; Cole W. Turner, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
