Marjorie Elmore

Marjorie Elmore, 89, died at 7:10 a.m., Sunday, October 30, 2011 at VIP Manor Nursing Home in Wood River.Marjorie was born in Kane on Dec. 31, 1921, one of three children born to the late Harry & Alma (Holmes) Giberson.A lifelong resident of Kane until moving to Jerseyville in 1999, Marjorie graduated from the Kane High School, and completed her senior year with the Class of 1939 at Carrollton High School.In her younger years, she had worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville, and later in life assisted her husband, Robert in his insurance office in Kane.She married Robert L. Elmore on June 9, 1943 in St. Louis, Mo., and they shared nearly 46 years together before his death on March 21, 1989.Surviving are a daughter & son in law,  Vicki & David Norton of South Roxana; a son & daughter in law, Rober Lee & Holly Elmore Jr. of Edina, Mn.; six grandchildren & their spouses, Sasha & Damion Huff of Wood River, Amanda & Kevin Enos of Brighton, Emily, Betsy, Molly & Mark Elmore; and two great grandchildren, Drew & Zach Huff.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Martha Herder, and a brother, George Giberson.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kane Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Keene officiating.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Kane Baptist Church where she was a longtime member.
