Marianne Kling

Dow | Save

Marianne Joy Kling, 96, formerly of Manhattan, New York, died at 12:25 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at San Gabriel Memory Care in Godfrey.

She was born on July 10, 1929 in Winona, Minnesota, one of five children born to the late Edward H. and Matilda (Jackson) Kling. She graduated from Winona High School and went on to further her education, obtaining a degree in Fashion Design, a field that reflected both her creativity and keen eye for style.

Marianne built a strong and respected career in Manhattan, New York, where she resided for more than 60 years. Throughout her professional life, she worked as an editor for various magazine publishers, embracing both the fast pace and culture of New York City. She later rounded out her career working in retail sales, where her love for people, fashion and conversation made her especially well suited.

Though New York remained close to her heart, Marianne eventually relocated to Jersey County to be nearer to her family. She carried with her a lifetime of experiences, stories and memories from a remarkable life well lived.

She is survived by her nephew, Richard Price of Dow; along with a great-nephew, Chad Price and his family of Dow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris “Kay” Kling; three brothers, Edward, Elwood and Stanley Kling; her niece through marriage, Jill Price; and two great-nephews, Kevin and Eric Price.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
