Marian Frances "Mary" Godar, 66, died suddenly at 1:11 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.She was born in Alton, Illinois on September 4. 1954, and was the daughter of Aran A. and Thelma (Ennis) Weid Sr.Mary was raised in Grafton, Illinois and attended Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville.  She a loyal and dedicated employee of Northside Grocery Store in Hardin for 40 years alongside her husband.She was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin, and was a loving wife, mom, grandma and sister who will be missed dearly.She married James Godar Sr. on October 17, 1970 at the St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin, and together, their marriage has been blessed with 50 years of wonderful memories.Surviving are her husband, James Godar of Hardin; a son, James Godar Jr. of Hardin; a daughter, Amanda Kaufmann of Hardin; five grandchildren, Mariah Decker, Mason Godar, Tyler Jones, McKenzie Jones, and Payton Kaufmann; two sisters and a brother in-law, Lula and Richard Flowers and Josephine Talbert all of Grafton; three brothers and sisters in-law, John Kukawski of St. Louis, Mike and Marcie Weid of Bethalto, and Charles and Allison Weid of Wood River;  sister in-law, Susan Weid of Eldred; as well as brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Shirley Gansz, Wendell and Joann Holland, Sharon Stein all of Hardin, Loretta and Lonnie Hattemar of Golden Eagle, Michelle and Bill Funk of Grafton, and Sam Holland of Hardin.She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma "Sis" Weid; her father and step-mother, Aran and Myrna Weid; a brother, AranWeid Jr.; a sister, Catherine Bell; a brother in-law, Walter Talbert;  and three sisters in-law, Barbara Powers, Doris Grizzle and Grace Holland.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all CDC guidelines will be followed, and masks will be required.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Hyland Smith officiating.Burial will be in the St. Norbert's Catholic Cemetery in Hardin.Memorials may be given to the St. Norbert's Catholic School in Hardin.Memories may be shared at crawfordfunerals.com.
