Luther Barnes

Luther Dean Barnes, 92, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at his residence on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 7:32 pm.  He was born October 13, 1930, in Marion, IL to Luther N. Barnes & Lois Radcliffe Barnes.  He married Carolyn E. Dennison Barnes.  He was a sheet metal worker for Local 268 and pastor of Southern Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the US Army after having served during Korea.  Luther enjoyed bowling, and golfing and was a pool player.  He is survived by his spouse, Carolyn Barnes of Bunker Hill, IL, children, Luther Barnes of Springfield, IL, John Barnes of Marion, IL, Mike Staples of Springfield, IL, Donna (Danny) VonLanken of Byron, GA, Steven Barnes of Marion, IL, Christopher (Bev) Barnes of Bunker Hill, IL, several grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, siblings, Larry Barnes, Lonnie Barnes, Pauline Barrett, Jeanette Gray.  Luther was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cynthia Thornton, and siblings, Lyndall Barnes, Lowell Barnes, and Lovina James.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.  Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.
