Lawrence “Larry” T. Wiegand, 67 passed away at 1:05 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on July 31, 1945 in Highland, IL, the son of Herbert and Marguerite (Zeisset) Wiegand.
He married Linda Matteson on October 4, 1986 at the Rose Garden at Gordon Moore Park. She survives.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War. He was the maintenance supervisor at Goodwill Industries of Missouri. He was a former volunteer fireman for the East Alton Fire Department and the East Alton American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Nancy Wiegand of St. Louis, MO, Greg Wiegand and Jay Kizer both of East Alton; three grandchildren, Katie Wiegand, Alex Wiegand and Nick Wiegand all of St. Louis, MO; his siblings and their spouses, David and Charlotte Wiegand of East Alton, Margie Wiegand of Morley, MO, Art Wiegand of White Hall, Arkansas, Dennis Wiegand of East Alton, Diane Bridges of Sikeston, MO and Terry Wiegand of Englewood, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until services at 2 pm on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
