Kerry Karlyle Keener, age 86, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2024.
Born in Hollywood, California, he was the son of the late Claude R. and Frances C. (Greenslade) Keener. On November 1, 1958, Kerry married Joan C. Harvey in Sacramento, CA.
He was the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor for the Owens-Illinois Mold Shop and retired in 1993 with 30 years of service.
Kerry was a member of Saint Ambrose Parish Church in Godfrey and made a practice of listening to Mass Daily. He was also a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Godfrey. He was an artist and craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, carving, stain glass work, and traveling in Europe as well as the US. In their motor home, Kerry and Joan visited 45 states as well as 6 Canadian Provinces.
Kerry is survived by his wife and his children-Kandis Holmdahl and Kevin (Sue) Keener; five grandchildren-Heidi Holmdahl, Julia (Chris McKenzie), James (Rayann) Holmdahl, Katie Keener, and Kyle (Kelsey) Keener; and four great grandchildren-Chloe McKenzie, Mason McKenzie, Raya Holmdahl and Solomon Holmdahl.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kim K. Keener.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held 9:30 am - 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 14, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Saint Ambrose Parish Church in Godfrey with Father Steve Janoski, celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Ambrose Parish and/or Masses.
