Kenneth Lane Gimmy, 87, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 with his family at his bedside.

Born January 23, 1933 in Jerseyville, the son of Leon and Eleanor (Tietsort) Gimmy.

He married Marcella Forrest on August 14, 1952 in Wood River.  She died February 11, 2019.

Kenny graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1955.  He was a devoted professional to his trade.  He was a Registered Pharmacist and along with his wife Marcella, owned and operated "Gimmy's Drug Store", serving the community for over 40 years until their retirement in 2001.

He was a member of the Wood River Lion's Club; a lifetime member of the Edwardsville Gun Club, having served as a Past President; a member of the Illinois Pharmacist Association, elected as the 106th President of the Association in 1985; was a member of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Alumni.

Kenny was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, as well as a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Bethalto Chapter.  He was a 50 year member of both the Lodge and Eastern Star.

He loved nothing more than being with his family and friends, always ready with a smile and laughter.  Along with his wife, boys and grandchildren, he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and trap shooting.

Surviving are three sons, Kent (Helen) Gimmy of Gallatin, TN, Kevin (Linda) Gimmy of Camdenton, MO, Kirk (Laura) Gimmy of Marion, IL; seven grandsons, Jason, Dustin, Ryan, Keith, Alan, Scott, and Brock; granddaughter, Brandy Hobdy; 11 great grandchildren, Ava, Carter, Hazel, Brielle, Vera, Alice, Emalynn, Charlotte, Makayla, Brynn and Tegan; and niece, Frances (Wayne) Caldwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; uncle and aunt, Clarence and Dorothea Priest.

Private services were held with Pastor Debra Hoertel officiating and burial in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto to celebrate his life.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights and/or BJC Hospice.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River in charge of arrangements.
