Keith Arlen Dirks, 85, of Hardin, Illinois passed away in his home at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday May 31, 2017.

He was born on October 5, 1931 in Meade, Kansas, the only son of Viola Grace Dirks and William (Bill) Dean Dirks.

On June 1, 1952 he married Betty Jo Booth at the First Methodist Church in Greensburg, Kansas. He earned his bachelor and master degree at Fort Hays State University in Kansas in 1955, then later retired from Jacksonville Developmental Center as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

He is survived by: his beloved wife Betty of 65 years, his daughter Teresa and her husband Mike Benz, and his son Bryan Dirks and his wife Terri, four grandchildren, Desiree Peavler, Lerin Dirks, Courtney Dirks, Bryant Dirks, one grandchildren Anthony Briggs is deceased, six great-grandchildren, Taylor Coy, Chance Peavler, Zoe Peavler, Daphne Peavler, Brody Peavler, and Colton Million.

Keith was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Kampsville. He served on the board of various community organzations: The County Health Department, Cilla, the Food Pantry, Head Start Program and Silver Creek Cemetery Board. He was also a member of the Lions Club and The Historical Society.

The burial will be at 11 am on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Silver Creek Cemetery with graveside services. Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Kampsville, Illinois.
