Kathryn Pitman

Kathryn “Kathy” Loraine Pitman, oldest daughter of Loyd B. and Joy (Lamb) Pitman, died Monday, July 28, in White Hall. She was born April 5, 1955, in Springfield, IL.

Kathryn had two great loves in her life, the love that she had for the Lord and the love that she had for her family. She loved to brag on her daughter, her nieces and nephews, and eventually her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. She also loved to testify about what God had done in her life and to encourage others to follow Him and to see what He could do in their lives. She had varying interests, including traveling, reading, trying new foods, spending time with her family, and unofficially adopting everyone she met, most notable her “other daughter,” Tammy Gregg.

Kathryn is survived by her sister Karen (Donnie) Stayton, her daughter, Tiffany (Tyrone) White, her grandchildren, Jehvonne, Leland, and Hannah White, her nieces, Elizabeth (Brandon) Reno, Kerri (Hamel) Hix, her nephews Steven (Mackenzie) Lyles, Kenny (Deb) Stayton, and many great nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, and her younger sister, Kay (Pitman) Manns.

While the family is grieving at this time, they find peace in knowing that she fought a good fight, she has finished the race and she is now enjoying her reward in heaven.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, July 31, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 am until time of funeral service. Memorials are requested to the Souls Harbor Apostolic Church, 1003 Thompson Street, Roodhouse, IL. 62082.  Burial will follow services at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.
