Katherine Wessel, 82, died at 4:08 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Jerseyville Hospital. She was born March 10, 1942 in Fieldon, IL the daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret (Hagen) Devening. She was a member of the Fieldon United Church of Christ and worked for many years in housekeeping for the VA hospital in St. Louis. On November 11, 1967 in Fieldon, IL she married Oliver Wessel, Jr. and he preceded her in death on September 5, 2020. Surviving are three daughters, Sherry Vanost (Jeff) of Jerseyville, Shelly Wessel of Rockbridge and Kelly Beeman (Jim Huff) of Fieldon, one son, Terry Wessel (Patricia Golden) of Hardin, six grandchildren, Chris Beeman, Amanda Beeman, Brendan Vanost, Caylin Beeman, Lindsay Vanost and Jeremy Vanost, five great grandchildren, Bentley Beeman, Jaxon Beeman, Kaysen Beeman, Curtis Stiller and Kamari Stewart and one sister, Pearl Snyders. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by Guy Devening and Marie Jackson. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Fieldon United Church of Christ in Fieldon, IL. Pastor John Shelton will officiate.
