Katherine Pellegrino, 81, passed away at 12:48 pm on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on December 17, 1929, in Wood River, IL, the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Gojak) Matko.
She married Ross Pellegrino on August 27, 1949 in Wood River, IL. He survives.
Katherine was a Nurse’s Aide for St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Madison County Nursing Home
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas Ross Pellegrino of Marion, IL; two daughters, Andrea Pellegrino of Wood River and Barbara Kaye Pellegrino of East Alton; six grandchildren, Tobi Pellegrino, Celia Pauli, Angela VanWinkle, Lacey VanWinkle, Bria Rushton and Leah Shaw and six great grandchildren, Elyssa Rushton, Landon and Owen Braundmeier, Ava Pauli, Hannah Pellegrino and Sebastian Pauli.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Gresham and Teresa Harman.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
