Joyce Harris

Joyce Harris, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Mount Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born on June 20, 1943, in St. Charles, Missouri, the daughter of the late Clyde and Edna (Turnbull) Stewart. She married Kenneth Harris on June 12, 1980, in Merritt Island, Florida, and he survives. Other survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Patricia and Tom Saunders of Appleton, Wisconsin, Pamela Chandler of Ferguson, Missouri, Christine and Dustin Huffman of St. Charles, Missouri, a son and daughter in law: Robert and Heidi Forbes of Troy, Missouri, a stepdaughter and her husband: Jeannette and Kenneth Robinson of Sardis, Tennessee, three step son and their wives: Harold and Susanne Harris of St. Petersburg, Florida, George Harris of St. Louis, Orville and Sharla Harris of Crossville, Tennessee, ten grandchildren, twelve step grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two sisters and a brother in law: Karen and Mark Ferguson of Wood River, Barbara Aldrich of Godfrey, a brother and sister in law: Tom and Connie Stewart of Stafford, Virginia, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Joyce was formerly employed as an emergency room technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. She enjoyed reading, listening to gospel music, and was a member of the East Alton Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Janet Billups and Joan Strickland.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Tony Nichols will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to Hilltop Assembly of God Church in Wood River and will be accepted at the funeral home.
