Joseph Sievers

Joseph Bernard Sievers Jr., 88, passed away on July 14, 2025, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on July 12, 1937, in Carrollton, son of the late Joseph and Clara (Norris) Sievers.

He married Violet Mae Klocke on August 29, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels, IL. Together with his father they spent their life farming. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Knights of Columbus. For many years you could find him in the ice cream stand at the Meppen Picnic.

In addition to his wife Violet, he is survived by his children, Karen (Dave) Godar, Sheryl (Todd) Paquin, and Peggy (Mark) Eberlin; three grandchildren, Kyle (Kelsey) Godar, Amy (Kenny) Godar, and Brad (Emily) Eberlin; two step grandchildren, Krystal Paquin and T.J. Paquin; ten great grandchildren, Max, Maverick, Keaton, Kaden, Kolton, Layla, Evie, Audrey, Matthew, and Jayden; three sisters, Rita Kraushaar, Shirley (Jim) Eilerman, and Judy Bick; in laws, Leroy Wieneke, Francis Canepa, Lucy (Matt) Halliday, Lee Klocke, Nancy Klocke, Tom (Jan) Klocke, and Randy White.

He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Sievers; by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Bernice Klocke; his sibling, Rosemary Wieneke; his in laws, Richard Kraushaar, Kenny Bick, Ida (Ed) Snyders, Pat (Gene) Glaser, James Klocke, Vera Canepa, Bill Klocke, Mary White, and Linda (Dale) Pohlman.

Visitation will be Thursday. July 17, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin, IL. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Meppen, IL. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
