Joseph "Joe" L. Hernandez, 60, passed away at 8:07 pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 20, 1965 in Alton, Illinois to Joseph L. Hernandez, Sr. and Frances (Cope) Moore.
After graduating from Alton High School, Joe worked as a tire technician for Independent Tire for many years. He loved anything and everything automotive, from dune buggies to cars and trucks. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He could often be found just spending time in the garage talking cars with his best friend, Matt. He will be deeply missed.
Joe is survived by his father, Joseph (Jill) Hernandez, Sr.; his siblings, Clyde Holliday and Wendy Holliday; and two nephews, Corey Joe Holliday and Tony Holliday.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Moore, as well as many beloved friends.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at a later date.
