John Herman Baltisberger, 95, passed away at 9:05 pm Thursday August 25, 2016 at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on June 14, 1921 in Brussels, IL the son of Martin & Mary (Fry) Baltisberger.
John married Elsie Lorsbach in October 10, 1945 at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Hardin and she preceded him in death on June 24, 1996.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brussels. He was a devote Catholic and lived by the model, Faith, Family and Friends.
John loved farming and was grain and livestock farmer. He also loved playing in the band, Tri County Strings Band, was a member of the Brussels Grade School Board, loved fishing, hunting, especially squirrels.
He is survived by five children and spouses, Pat & Roy Jacobs of Golden Eagle, Dorothy Arnold of Alton, Karen Baltisberger of Brussels, John & Diane Baltisberger of Hardin, Mary Stewart of Bethalto; seven grandchildren, Roy Jacobs Jr., Angela LaMarsh, Juanita Chapman, Jamie Bailey, Eric Baltisberger, Emily Kallal, and Chelsea Stewart; and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jacob Baltisberger and a sister, Annie Baltisberger.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Monday August 29, 2016 at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Tuesday August 30, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brussels.
Memorials may be made to the Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Activity Fund or Calhoun Ambulance.
