Jimmie Leonard Marshall Rogers, 82, died at 11:50 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his residence.He was born in Craighead County, Arkansas on March 9, 1934, and was the son of John Leonard Marshall & Ruby (Polston) Rogers.As a young man, Jimmie was employed at Olin Corp., while he attended school.  After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Jimmie began his longtime career as an over the road truck driver,   He spent many of those years with Dohrn Transfer in St. Louis, Mo., and later began his own entity, Easy Rider Transportation, and worked for himself for several years retiring in 2003 after his beloved wife was diagnosed with cancer.  The two spent the next several years traveling together, crossing off many of their "bucket list" destinations.He married the former Betty Lou Underwood on Aug. 6, 1954 in East St. Louis, Il., and together they were blessed with three daughters, and a marriage that spanned 52 years before her death on Aug. 22, 2006.Surviving are two daughters & a son in law, Cynthia Rogers of Carrollton and Carol & Bruce Howard of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren & their spouses, Bradley & Amanda Woolsey of White Hall, Amy & William Holland of Iola, Ks., MelissaScoggins of Greenfield, Nathan & Allison Howard of Alton, Jennifer Bodenbach, and her fiance' Craig Fischer of Jerseyville, Chris Howard and Brendan Howard both of Jerseyville; 10 Great Grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Middleton of Dow.In addition to his parents and his wife, Jimmie was preceded in death by his daughter and son in law, Susan Renee & LonnieWoolsey; and two sisters, Pat Williams and Wanda Grossheim.Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana, both of which were very important to Jimmie.
