Jimmie Leuty

Jimmie L. Leuty, 74, passed away at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital. 

Born July 25, 1946 in Paola, KS, he was a son of James S. and Virginia M. (Smith) Leuty. 

He married Marilyn Christeson in Alton on June 30, 1968, and she survives. 

A Vietnam War veteran, he served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. He retired from the Carpenter's Local #377, and was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges in Wood River. He was also a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Jack Graichen Memorial Chapter #90 in Edwardsville. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, and spending time with all of his family. Jim was a loving and devoted companion, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. 

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kay Holt of O'Fallon, MO; two grandchildren, Nichole R. and Steven K. Holt; siblings, Lynda Jordan of Topeka, KS, Wanda Hovey of Bolivar, MO, David S. (JoAnn) Leuty of Dayton, NV, Dennis J. Leuty of Moro, and C. Ray Leuty of Mayetta, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Dunnaway. 

According to his wishes, there will be no services. 

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or Memorial Tree Planting.
