Janice Martin

Janice Lorene Martin, 82, of Alton, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, peacefully in her home at 4:53 am.

She was born in Alton, IL, on November 23, 1943, the daughter of John Christian and Opal Ann (Jones) Martin.

Janice had a longtime career in office administrative work including the State of Illinois. She was a life-long caregiver and loved working with her patients, who were like an extended family. Janice enjoyed crafting, reading, gardening flowers, especially roses. She was a jokester as well as a caring and loving person. All who knew her will miss the special lady she was.

Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Deana (Mize) Bond of Bunker Hill, and Julie (Cresswell) Bond of Alton; grandsons, Alexander Joseph Bond of Alton, Jeffrey Nelson Bond, Jr. of Bunker Hill, Nicholas Anthony Bond of Alton, Joseph Hodges of Alton, and Jason Hodges of New Delhi; and a special niece, Sherry (Milligan) Simmons of Alton.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey Nelson Bond, Sr. and Matthew Samuel Bond; grandson, Corey Jonathon Bond; granddaughter, Sarah Opal Ann Bond; brother, Ronald Martin; sisters, Judy Connors and Joyce Crider; and a nephew, Ronald D. Milligan.

Private family services will be held at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
