James Richard “Dick” Ivester, 79, died after an extended illness at 4:45 am, Monday, June 3, 2024, at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville, IL. He was born Nov. 24, 1944, in Alton and was the son of Charles and Kathlyn (Brewen) Ivester.
Dick graduated from Alton High School in 1961 and worked at Laclede Steel mill until his retirement.
Dick was preceded in death by older brothers, Charles (Sonny) Ivester, Maurice (William) Ivester and a foster brother, Richard Draper.
Surviving is his son, Don Ivester; Daughter, Stephanie (Ivester) Connors and spouse Thomas Connors and their two sons, Thomas and Logan; three brothers: James (Brady), George (Robert), and Michael Paul Ivester.
In his spare time, Dick was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to tell stories and loved sharing them with anyone who would listen!
A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be private.
